This CD contains all of the patches that were installed on the system disk of your new system, allowing you to recreate the system disk from scratch if necessary. For more information about what was installed on your system disk, please see the selections file, located in the /var/systemdisk directory.

Notes about Patch CDs

You may find more than one Patch CD included with your system.

Silicon Graphics, Inc., always includes this System Disk Patch CD, which contains the patches that we used to create your system disk. This allows you to completely recreate your system disk from the CD exactly as it was shipped from the factory, should you need to do so. Customers should reference the flyer "About your pre-installed system disk" (either in the box with your software or in the CD binder, if you recieved one), or see: http://www.sgi.com/Products/SystemDisk/.

In addition, we also include updated Recommended/Required Quarterly Patch Set CDs with your system. Due to manufacturing constraints, we are not always able to have these latest patches installed on your system disk. If it is important to you to have the most up-to-date patch set, you should install the patch set from the updated Recommended/Required Patch Set CD.

Installation Information

All of the patches on this CD come pre-installed on OCTANES shipped from Silicon Graphics. However, some of the patches may have optional subsystems that affect software that isn't pre-installed, and therefore those patch subsystems may not be pre-installed.
These patches are only supported on OCTANES.
You may choose to read the release notes for products before installing them. You can now view the release notes easily from Software Manager: when you click on the product, the product name will highlight like a blue HTML link if there are release notes available. Simply click again on the link to bring up the Release Notes window.
To view the release notes for patches, open a unix shell and type:

cd /CDROM/docs <Enter> 
./CDgrelnotes <Enter> 
```
To install this software:
1. When you are finished browsing this README, click OK below to run the startup script.
  - If you need to refer back to this README, press the Lookup button.
2. Press the Customize Installation button in Software Manager and check the products you want to install. (Read the "Notes about the products," above).
3. Press Start.
